It’s no secret that New Orleans’s craft beer scene is on the rise. In early 2014, New Orleans had 1 brewery. We now boast five with two new breweries that opened in 2016, and three more already scheduled to open in early 2017, beer enthusiasts can’t get enough of local beer in New Orleans. They do say that good things come to those who wait, and we are stoked the wait is almost over for Louisiana to be among the ranks of states, such as Oregon and Colorado, known for good beer. It’s better late than never!
In 2016, Urban South and Wayward Owl opened their doors to brew lovers, and 2017 promises the opening of Brieux Carre in the Marigny, Royal Brewery in New Orleans East, and Parleaux Beer Lab in the Bywater. Port Orleans off Tchouptilous is also in the works, and another Uptown brewery is tentatively planning an August start date but have not made any details public yet. We’re sure to be among the first guests as soon as they start pouring that frothy goodness.
Gambit recently featured a piece not only on the new breweries, but highlighting the added value that yours truly, the Nola Brew Bus, adds to the scene:
“In September, NOLA Brew Bus began offering a more diverse set of tours, in which guides share tales of the city’s history while participants ride between breweries or beer bars.”
