Yoga & Craft Beer…it’s a Thing
By: Alexis Dickie, Brew Bus Staff
Beer Yoga, Brewga, Bend & Brew, Yoga Meets Beer… Whatever you want to call it, yoga with beer involved is all the trend, and we’re here to help break down your drinking while working out options in New Orleans. Some may call it counterproductive, we at Brew Bus like to think of it as an innovative way to be even more productive. Below are the standing weekly classes offered in New Orleans:
Irish Channel, New Orleans
When: Every Monday, 6PM
Cost: Donation based, $5 recommended donation
Located in the barrel room at the back of the tap room, yoga happens every Monday by donation. Attendees get $1 off beers before or after yoga!
Bywater, New Orleans
When: Every Sunday, 11AM
Parleaux has been hosting weekly yoga basically since they started in May 2017. Be sure to pop in for a FREE yoga class in the middle of their tap room every Sunday at 11AM. Stick around after for a beer & the rotating food trucks they have come through.
Lower Garden District, New Orleans
When: Every Wednesday, 6:30PM
Every week catch a $5 NOLA Tribe Yoga class at Tchoup Yard with mats available for rent as well. This tradition has been ongoing since Tchoup Yard first opened in summer 2016. Come early at 5:35 to kick off your night with some cardio and a 5K run!
Uptown, New Orleans
When: Every Tuesday, 6pm, from September 4th to October 2nd
Cost: Free, donations appreciated
Port Orleans announced a new yoga series on Tuesdays from 6-7pm in their beer garden leading up to the Gleason Classic. Participants will receive $4 happy hour beers (with the exception of Gleason IPA as a portion of that beer goes back to charity). Bring your own mat, water, and towel.
NOLA, Parleaux, and Tchoup Yard have yoga weekly but historically there has also been beer yoga at Courtyard Brewing, Second Line Brewing, Brieux Carre Brewing and Urban South Brewery. Be sure to follow these three breweries to stay up to date with their yoga pop-ups & don’t forget to say hey to the Brew Bus staff when you see us Namasthe & IPA-ing!
