NOLA Brewing’s Monthly IPA Series has gone Viral

Hopback Cadillac

Hopback Cadillac Will be the Next Sellout

By Brew Bus Staff, August 2, 2018

IPAs are America’s #1 beer. These days if a brewery can make a killer IPA, it will undoubtedly bring people to the door. Who can blame them? People love a lot of flavor in their beer. Welcome to NOLA Brewing‘s latest 2018 IPA series.

It all started last year when NOLA was sent a second cease and desist letter by the makers of the movie Godzilla, over their beer Mecha Hopzilla.

Derek Lintern, Director of NOLA’s Funk Series, along with his brother and newly announced CEO, Dylan, had a grand plan.

They began with great success in 2017 with their 00 through 007 beer series. After tweaking recipes, NOLA added Syncopation and Hoppyright Infringement as regular rotations on the canning line.

In addition, since March 2018, they’ve released several small batch IPAs that have turned heads in the local craft beer community.

Hopback Cadillac is this month’s release and one can likely expect the same result:¬† same-day sell-out.

Before we get to the details on the new release, let’s walk through each of their small batch releases in this series:

Pineapple Upside Down Cake IIPA

NOLA Brewing's pineapple upside down cake double ipa with pineapple vanilla

The first in their small batch release series was Pineapple Upside Down Cake IIPA in March. This beer was brewed with pineapple, vanilla, and lactose, as well as Galaxy, Citra, and Mosaic hops, producing a sweet and hazy double dry hopped wonder.

Spud Heavy IIPA

Next up was Spud Heavy IIPA, an Imperial India Pale Ale, heavy on the Idaho-7 hops. The hops were 100% late addition and double dry hopped.

Moon Shoes IIPA

Moon Shoes IIPA was NOLA’s release that earned them the prestigious top-50 in the nation ranking by Paste Magazine, read about it in our blog here. Moon Shoes was a Galaxy Imperial India Pale Ale, again where 100% of the hops were late addition and double dry hopped.

Flippy Floppy IIPA

Flippy Floppy IIPA, a collaboration with Hi-Wire Brewing, was an Imperial India Pale Ale, brewed with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Galaxy hops.

No Strings Attached IPA

No Strings Attached

Next up was No Strings Attached, a single IPA, brewed with Nelson Sauvin and Citra hops. This beer was also re-released two weeks ago but quickly sold out again (lucky for us, our co-owner Matt actually got the very last pour of No Strings Attached!)

Ales for ALS IPA

In July we saw the release of Ales for ALS, an IPA brewed to help raise awareness for and funding the ALS Therapy Development Institute. This IPA was brewed with a very unique hop blend including Ekuanot, HBC 438, HBC 344, Simcoe, Loral, HBC 630, and HBC 520 hops. ALS IPA is still available on draft and in cans in the taproom today!
